Here’s how iPhone 18 Pro will differentiate itself from prior models

As Apple prepares to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro next month, tech enthusiasts are curious about the significant differences this year's model will offer compared to its predecessors. According to recent rumors, Apple has several key upgrades planned for the iPhone 18 Pro, setting it apart from previous iterations.

One of the most notable enhancements is in the camera department. While Apple typically makes incremental upgrades to the camera system each year, the iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to bring substantial changes, particularly to the Main camera. Leaker Fixed Focus Digital has confirmed these upgrades, suggesting a Main camera module enlargement of more than 2mm, resulting in a thicker aluminum alloy back panel.

Additionally, rumors hint at a variable aperture feature, indicating that this year's camera upgrades may be unprecedented in the iPhone lineup's history.

Another area where the iPhone 18 Pro will likely see significant upgrades is in its 5G modem. Apple has been transitioning away from Qualcomm modems, with the iPhone 16e using a designed-in-house C1 modem and the iPhone 16 Air featuring a C1X modem. However, Apple's flagship models, including the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and the iPhone 17, have continued to rely on Qualcomm.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro will be the first model to adopt an Apple-designed C2 modem, which could lead to improved connectivity and performance. Coupled with the new A20 Pro chip, this transition is expected to deliver the best battery life in any iPhone ever.

Battery life enhancements are expected to be particularly pronounced in the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Regulatory filings hint at a roughly 10% larger physical battery compared to its predecessor, potentially making it the most impressive model in terms of endurance.

Apple has historically been conservative with color choices for its Pro models, but last year's Cosmic Orange variant was a notable exception. For the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple is set to introduce a Dark Cherry/Burgundy color option, which could capitalize on the success of the previous year's popular shade. This marks the first time Apple has launched such a bold color on a Pro model, and it's also the first red shade ever seen on an iPhone Pro.

In terms of design, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a revised Dynamic Island, which is expected to be 35% smaller than the current iteration. These features, along with other rumored enhancements, will be showcased in Apple's upcoming presentation, offering users an array of new and improved functionalities.
