Google, Pakistan Sign Deal to Expand Tech Cooperation

Pakistan and Google have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to bolster their collaboration across various digital and technological domains. This pact, solidified during a reception organized by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for a delegation from Google, aims to bolster the nation's digital transformation and strengthen its position in the global tech landscape.

A key aspect of this agreement is the expansion of the Google Career Certificates program in Pakistan, with an ambitious goal of awarding 150,000 certificates by 2026. This initiative seeks to equip a larger segment of Pakistan's youth with essential digital skills, thus enhancing their employability in the burgeoning IT sector.

Moreover, the collaboration will grant Pakistani students free access to Google AI Plus, Gemini, and other advanced AI tools for an entire year. This initiative is designed to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge AI technologies, thereby fostering innovation and technological proficiency within the local student community.

Another crucial component of the deal is the planned establishment of an AI Center of Excellence in Islamabad. This center will serve as a hub for training Pakistani youth and other human resources in skills that are highly sought after in international markets. By focusing on AI-related training, the center aims to bridge the gap between local capabilities and global industry demands.

The partnership extends to various sectors within Pakistan's digital economy, including mobile applications, gaming, digital payments, and digital commerce.
