Five Premier League games to watch this weekend

The Premier League resumes this weekend with Arsenal aiming to start their title defense perfectly, Manchester City looking to rectify their previous weekend's setbacks, and Hull City in for a tough challenge as they return to the top flight. Here are five games worth watching this weekend.

1. Arsenal vs Coventry City

Arsenal seeks to retain their Premier League title this season and begins with a host of last season's Championship champions, Coventry City. During the Community Shield match this past weekend, Arsenal showcased their attacking prowess by defeating Manchester City, thanks to free-flowing counters. The Gunners' Mikel Arteta opened the scoring after just 25 seconds, followed by goals from Kai Havertz and Martin Ødegaard.

Coventry secured the Championship title last year, earning promotion back to the Premier League with three games to spare. The match is set to kick off at 8pm BST on Friday evening and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

2. Hull City vs Manchester United

Hull City became the first team in 16 years to claim promotion to the Premier League after finishing sixth in the regular season, thanks to a last-minute goal by Oli McBurnie in the play-off final. However, the Tigers underperformed significantly, lacking both Premier League quality and experience. With just Matt Targett, Joe Gelhardt, and Jack Butland making Premier League appearances this summer, hull's focus will be on survival, a feat they haven't achieved since the 2013/14 season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, bounced back from last season's disappointing second-half performance, securing Champions League football thanks to Michael Carrick's resurgence. The game, scheduled for 12:30pm BST on Saturday, will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

3. Manchester City vs Bournemouth

Enzo Maresca's Manchester City started their season poorly, losing to Arsenal at the Principality Stadium. A home opener against Bournemouth could provide the necessary momentum to rectify this. Key players like Erling Haaland, Nico O'Reilly, Marc Guéhi, Rayan Cherkí, and Elliot Anderson may see their playing time managed due to limited preseason participation.
