From Center Grove to the Colts: Caden Curry's dream is becoming reality

WESTFIELD – Colts head coach Shane Steichen praised rookie defensive lineman Caden Curry during an interview, highlighting his standout performance during the team's preseason opener against the Patriots. Curry, who played primarily on the Colts' third-string defense during that game, led the team in total tackles (six) and tackles for loss (two), as well as recording two batted passes and one sack.

The shoutout came as part of Steichen's broader praise for the defense as he spoke about its absorption of coordinator Lou Anarumo's aggressive system. Curry, the sixth-round pick of the Colts in the NFL Draft, has been making an impact since joining the team. He aims to bring his tenacity and effectiveness to the NFL, where he overcame a smaller build to become the Big Ten's leading sack provider at Ohio State last season.

Curry, a former Center Grove football star who helped lead the team to back-to-back IHSAA 6A state titles in 2020-21, grew up a Colts fan and played for the team when he was a youngster. His selection by the Colts was a dream come true after living and breathing Colts football since childhood. On Saturday, Curry will play his first NFL game at Lucas Oil Stadium, the stadium where he watched his hometown team compete.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and excitement to play for his hometown team, with many of his friends and family expected to attend the game.
