Former UFC fighter Shore turns hand to promoting

Jack Shore, a former UFC fighter from Abertillery, has transitioned from his MMA career to become a fight promoter. After retiring in December 2024, Shore focused on coaching but is now turning his attention to organizing combat sports events. His first venture, Stand and Bang, will take place on August 22 at Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre, featuring 23 striking-only bouts in a 20-foot boxing ring.

Shore is aiming to make the event appealing to the growing Welsh MMA scene, citing the lack of fan-friendly options as inspiration. Shore emphasizes the importance of making the fight enjoyable for untrained spectators and highlights the fighter-friendly aspect of his promotion. He acknowledges the challenges of entering the promotion world, having to overcome late withdrawals and rebooking fights.

Despite the steep learning curve, Shore remains committed to providing an enjoyable experience for the audience and promises to make each event bigger and better. Shore's retirement from fighting at 29 may have surprised many, but he has no regrets, stating that he has everything he needs in retirement, including daily sparring sessions with fellow fighters.
