F4 star Vanness Wu hits back at claims wife Emi Aramaki lied about her age and University College London degree

Taiwanese-American singer Vanness Wu has responded to online allegations that his new wife, Japanese singer Emi Aramaki, has lied about her age and educational background. The controversy emerged after a reader claimed that Aramaki was described as a 35-year-old University College London graduate, despite alumni being unable to locate any record of her.

Photos showing Aramaki with students from prestigious British universities, including the University of Cambridge and King’s College London, in 2015 and 2016 also surfaced online. Some questioned why there were few publicly available photos or other evidence of Aramaki’s university life and graduation, leading to suspicions that she had fabricated her qualifications.

Additionally, a photo purportedly showing Aramaki at a high school prom in 2013 sparked further scrutiny, suggesting that if she were 35 in 2023, she would have been only 22 at the time.

Wu, 47, addressed the claims through a statement released by his management, B’in Music, refuting the allegations as false. He clarified that Aramaki is actually 31 years old and did graduate from University College London. Wu hoped that the matter would be resolved and expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the public. Wu and Aramaki married in Las Vegas in May, and Wu announced their union on social media the following month.

This is Wu’s second marriage, having previously been married to Singaporean heiress Arissa Cheo from 2013 to 2018. Aramaki was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and moved to London when she was nine, eventually returning to Japan in 2024 to pursue a music career, releasing her first Japanese-language single, "Purple Dream," later that same year.
