Ex-MP duo to return from Bersatu to PKR?

Former Bandar Tun Razak MP Kamarudin Jaffar and former Nibong Tebal MP Mansor Othman, both members of the Bersatu party, may soon return to the People's Justice Party (PKR). PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has urged party veterans to rejoin the fold. Kamarudin, a former deputy foreign minister, is reportedly targeting PKR's Cheras division and the federal territories PKR chapter has expressed no concerns about his return.

Similarly, Mansor, a former political secretary to Anwar in the 1990s and a former PKR vice-president, is contemplating a return to PKR after receiving inquiries from the party. Kamarudin is presently in discussions with PKR members and has not yet submitted an official application, but he stated that PKR remains his primary consideration if positive outcomes materialize.

Mansor, who was once a vice-president of PKR, was previously associated with Umno and PAS. They were among the 11 MPs who left PKR in 2020 during the Sheraton Move, contributing to the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government. Since then, former PKR vice-presidents Tian Chua and Dr Xavier Jayakumar have returned to the party, bolstering its popularity in Kuala Lumpur.

Federal territories PKR chief Azman Abidin is open to Kamarudin's potential return but declined to provide further information.
