Dubai airport prepares for 3.7 million passengers during peak return travel period

Dubai International Airport, DXB, is gearing up to accommodate approximately 3.7 million passengers during the upcoming peak return travel period as residents come back from summer break. Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, revealed to Emarat Al Youm that an average of 222,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport daily during this time. Roughly 46% of the total passenger count will consist of transit travelers, according to Al Joker.

To manage the surge in passenger numbers, teams at DXB are working around the clock to ensure operational efficiency. Preparations span from arrival and baggage claim areas to ground transport facilities. Furthermore, teams are prepared to respond to any operational changes that may arise throughout the period. Al Joker emphasized that the airport's preparations are not solely focused on handling higher passenger volumes; they also aim to provide a seamless and high-quality travel experience for all passengers.

The busiest day for Eid travel is anticipated to be May 31, with an estimated 194,500 passengers passing through DXB. Despite the challenges posed by recent disruptions caused by the war, Dubai Airports has managed to process 6 million passengers. Additionally, the airport has opened a new Uber and Careem lounge at Terminal 3 to enhance the convenience and experience of its passengers.
