Droppet klimapåstand: – Innrømmer at det er feil

In the 2026 resources report, Sokkedirektoratet admits that their production scenarios are not in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. The three future scenarios presented by Sokkedirektoratet are quite different. Directorate Torgeir Stordal confirms that the statement about climate is not included in this year's resources report.

The previous report referred to a compilation from a public review from 2023, which stated that oil and gas production will still exist in 2050 in all three scenarios, even if the global temperature targets of the Paris Agreement are reached (IPCC, 2023; IEA, 2023). The IEA and the UN Climate Panel estimate that global oil and gas production will decrease by 35-75% and 20-70%, respectively, compared to today's levels, with median reductions of 60% for oil and 45% for gas in the 1.5-degree scenario without temporary overshoot in 2050.

The Norwegian Oil Directorate's estimate of a 66% reduction in Norwegian seabed production by 2050, with alternatives of 49% and 97%, falls within the global oil and gas production decline range stated by the IEA and UN Climate Panel as being in line with a successful implementation of the Paris Agreement.
