Contension, a Tampa straight-edge crew, has released a new EP titled Nuclear Summer, following their performance at Sound And Fury weekend. The band, known for their heavy hardcore style reminiscent of the 90s, has dropped two crushing new tracks, "Second Sun" and "Blank Stare," as well as covers of the Swarm's 1999 anthem "Upside Your Head" and their own intro "X On Our Knees."
Vocalist Cosmo Vidussi reflects on the album's themes, stating that modernity brings only more refined methods of annihilation and suffering. The EP also marks a return to cover songs by the Swarm, a band cited as a source of inspiration for Contension since their first band practice in 2019. The band will be touring throughout November, with stops in Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, and Miami, alongside performances with Pain Of Truth, Madball, Rotting Out, and xforever warx.
