ChatGPT's new Mac plugin analyzed my iMessages - and I found it surprisingly useful

Then, they need to input the desired message and submit the prompt. ChatGPT will then send the message, and users can choose to always allow sending in the future to avoid confirmation prompts.

Another useful feature is the ability to search and summarize messages based on specific criteria, such as the mention of a particular topic or person. For example, users can ask ChatGPT to find and summarize all messages containing the word "cat" or directed towards a specific individual. The AI will then provide a summary of the relevant exchanges, which can be helpful for organization and context.

The most intriguing aspect of the plugin is the message analysis feature, where users can ask ChatGPT to review their conversations with a particular person. By prompting the AI with "Analyze my messages in @Messages with [name of person]," users receive insights into the tone, topics, and overall communication patterns in their exchanges.

In some cases, ChatGPT may also offer suggestions for improving the user's communication style. For instance, when the author complained about canceled dinner plans, ChatGPT pointed out the potential for defensiveness in their message and provided alternative phrasing to foster more productive responses.
