Ceuta begins burials for migrants who died attempting to cross into the Spanish territory

Tourists evacuated a Spanish beach after dozens of migrants stormed ashore from a boat on Wednesday, according to new footage. The incident occurred near the La Manga Club resort on the Costa Cálida, drawing outrage from immigration opponents in Europe. The boat, carrying around 60 migrants, approached the popular Cala del Barco cove where vacationers were present.

Video footage shows the migrants jumping into the water and running past sunbathers, quickly making their way into nearby towns. Concerned tourists gathered their belongings and fled the shoreline, some even calling the police. The boat then turned around and returned to sea. The shock of the incident was heightened by the fact that it took place near a well-known resort.

The British Sun noted that the resort is known for its luxury hotels, golf course, and celebrity visitors. Local mayors criticized the lack of detection by radar and the normalizing of such events. The footage comes after about 72,000 migrants breached the Morocco-Ceuta border at the end of last month, with most being returned to Morocco but 5,000 remaining in Ceuta.

The Spanish government's plan to regularize the status of undocumented migrants aims to address labor shortages and an aging population, but the right-wing has accused the government of enabling an "invasion" of migrants.
