Cardinals’ Gardner Minshew will start against Cowboys

The Arizona Cardinals have announced that Gardner Minshew will start against the Dallas Cowboys in the upcoming preseason game. Minshew is the backup quarterback to Jacoby Brissett, with Carson Beck and Kedon Slovis fighting for the third-string spot. Head coach Mike LaFleur expects Minshew to play the first half and then sit, with the third team taking over.

Several defenders are also expected to rest, including Budda Baker and Mack Wilson. Rookie RB Jeremiyah Love and Beck, who are dealing with an ankle and rib injury respectively, are also limited to limited participation. The Cardinals will keep only three quarterbacks on their final roster, releasing one and potentially sending another to the practice squad. The preseason game is scheduled for Saturday, August 22 against the Dallas Cowboys.
