Beyond Vision 2030: Felix Koskei urges youth to take charge of Kenya’s future

Public Service Head and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei has called upon young Kenyans to actively participate in shaping the nation's future beyond Vision 2030. Addressing a gathering in Chepalungu, Bomet County on August 21, 2026, Koskei stressed that the youth must not be sidelined in conversations about their country's long-term development priorities.

He urged the young people to contribute their ideas and practical recommendations to the development agenda that will follow the expiry of Vision 2030. According to Koskei, the plans and strategies that will be devised will determine the country's future, and therefore, the youth should ensure that their aspirations and priorities are incorporated into these plans.

He stressed that the youth must take charge of the development conversation and ensure their visions are included in the discussions. Koskei emphasized that the youth should not be passive participants but should actively engage in national dialogue and present their proposals on issues affecting their generation. He called on young Kenyans to use their participation in national conversations to develop leadership skills and take part in decision-making processes at various levels of government.

Koskei noted that the post-2030 development agenda would have a significant impact on the younger generation and urged them to position themselves at the center of the process and articulate the kind of Kenya they want to inherit. He also called for an inclusive national conversation that reflects the aspirations of all Kenyans, particularly the youthful population that will bear the consequences of today's decisions.
