Benue assembly suspends LG chairman over gross misconduct

The Benue State House of Assembly has recommended the suspension of Kwande Local Government Chairman Mr Vitalis Neji for three months, according to reported statements. The decision follows an investigation into allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office, as per the House's ad hoc committee. During the plenary, Majority Leader and Committee Chairman Mr Peter Ipusu presented the committee's report, stating that Neji appeared before them but was unable to defend himself adequately against the claims.

After debate, all members of the House unanimously urged Speaker Alfred Emberga to rule on the committee's recommendation. Following this, Emberga announced the suspension, effective immediately and pending further investigation into the allegations.
