Bedrohung: Bundesstaatsanwalt ermittelt zu Waffenfund bei Berlin

Berlin has seen a significant discovery of a weapons depot near the city, according to a statement by Federal Interior Minister Dobrindt on Friday. The German security authorities found a hidden location containing two pistols and ammunition last year, which they suspect were intended for attacks. Dobrindt revealed that the Federal Criminal Police had known about the hidden stash since October last year.

In collaboration with the Berlin State Criminal Office, the weapons and ammunition were either replaced or rendered inoperable, and the hidden location was monitored to identify potential buyers – but without success. Romania apprehended a suspect in connection with this case. The General Federal Prosecutor initiated an investigation into suspicions of espionage activities and preparation of a severe threat to state security.

There are also indications of attack plans in Romania. Interior Minister Dobrindt did not confirm any link to Russia, but did not rule out "foreign power involvement." Dobrindt affirmed that the situation posed a high risk and cautioned against viewing this incident as isolated. Instead, it must be considered within the context of a "multitude of events" demonstrating the actions of what he termed "low-level agents." Multiple arrests have already been made this year.
