Babita Singh Reporting trailer: Nimisha Sajayan’s cop goes rogue as she solves a murder

Babita Singh, portrayed by Nimisha Sajayan, is a skilled female police officer in the upcoming film Babita Singh Reporting. Despite her abilities, she often faces skepticism from her colleagues and societal judgment. The trailer, released on August 26, 2026, depicts her attempting to get her leave approved by recording her superior on his bike, as played by Rajesh Kumar.

However, her superior demands favors that compromise her principles, leading to her suspension. During this time, she reconnects with her childhood friend, Bansi (played by Barun Sobti), who tragically dies in suspicious circumstances. Babita refuses to abandon the case, even as her family tries to limit her. The trailer, shared on Instagram with the caption, "What happens when an investigation hits home quite literally?", highlights the challenges faced by women in uniform and their relentless pursuit of justice.

Nimisha Sajayan, known for her work in South Indian cinema, brings a fresh perspective to a North Indian setting. Barun Sobti plays the complex and intimidating role of Bansi, whose character remains largely mysterious in the trailer. Babita Singh Reporting, a production by Sudeep Sharma and Ambiecka Pandit, is set to stream on Prime Video starting August 28, 2026.
