Anwar asks Indonesia’s Prabowo to intercede in Felda's RM2.5b PT Eagle High loss

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has formally appealed to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for intervention regarding Felda's investments in Indonesia, specifically concerning PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk (EHP). This appeal comes after uncovering a potential financial loss of RM2.5 billion, a figure that, if not resolved, could result in Felda recovering only around RM200 million.

Anwar made these statements during a meeting with Felda's top management and managers, aiming to ensure they fully grasp the gravity of the challenges Felda faces. While acknowledging the financial burden does not directly fall on regional managers in states like Pahang or Johor, Anwar stressed the importance of a collective understanding of the crisis for a successful recovery.

He urged managers at all levels to disregard attempts to downplay governance failures, emphasizing that these problems must be confronted head-on. The government is accelerating basic welfare projects, including immediate allocations for repairs to the homes of managers and settlers, to address the issues. Anwar stressed that focusing on governance, integrity, and accountability is necessary to safeguard public trust and restore Felda's legacy as an institution of national pride.
