2027 polls: Ideyi emerges ADC candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial zone

The opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, of Ebonyi State has selected Dr Ideyi Prince Gamax as its candidate for the 2027 senatorial election in the Ebonyi South Senatorial District. Dr Gamax was the sole candidate who secured 450 votes in a primary election. The Returning Officer and Deputy Chairman of ADC in Ebonyi, Dr Victor Uduma, confirmed this outcome stating that the party members from the Ebonyi South Senatorial District enthusiastically elected Gamax as their candidate.

Gamax explained that the primary was a substitution process following an earlier primary held on April 22, 2026. He expressed confidence that ADC would win the senatorial election in Ebonyi South, highlighting that the people were eager for change and looking forward to a new representative. ADC state chairman, Dr Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, confirmed the primary was held peacefully and under the supervision of security agencies, media and INEC officials.

She disclosed that the substitution primary was necessitated by an alteration in the party’s earlier process and this primary was the only one recognized by the state chapter. Adibe-Nwafor also dismissed rumors of another primary, stating she was unaware of any ongoing exercise. The ADC plans to participate in the upcoming local government elections in Ebonyi State, scheduled for August 22, 2026, expressing optimism for a strong performance.
