2027: Ex-LP aspirant emerges YPP presidential candidate

The Young Progressives Party has replaced Anita Zugwai-Chukwu as their presidential candidate with former Labour Party aspirant Peter Agada ahead of the 2027 general election. The change was officially announced at a presidential and vice-presidential substitution primary election in Abuja on Friday. Agada, who joined the YPP after being disqualified from the Labour Party's presidential primary, stated that his new mandate is focused on addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians, including food insecurity, internal displacement, and youth unemployment.

His proposed approach to governance is called "governance with GPS," with a focus on tackling the root causes of poverty rather than merely managing its effects, particularly in security, agriculture, and food production.
