Workhorse-ready single cab new Toyota Hilux officially priced

Toyota has officially unveiled the pricing and specifications for its single cab Hilux, announced alongside the double and Xtra Cab models at the Nampo Agricultural Expo in April. The single cab Hilux comes in two variants, both in SRX grade, with the primary distinction being the choice between rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Both options use the same 2.8 GD-6 turbodiesel engine, producing 150kW/500Nm, which is delivered to the rear or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine's specifications have not been altered from the double and Xtra Cab models, as it does not include the 48-volt mild-hybrid system found in the double cab Legend.

Toyota has yet to disclose the single cab's claimed payload capacity. The Hilux single cab will debut a six-speed manual gearbox next year, coupled with the return of the 2.4 GD-6 turbodiesel engine. With a tow rating of 3,500kg, ground clearance of 312mm, and a wading depth of 800mm, the single cab Hilux boasts a claimed payload capacity of 845 kg for the rear-wheel drive variant and 920 kg for the 4x4 variant.

Standard features across both variants include cloth seats, manual air-conditioning, an eight-inch infotainment display, 17-inch steel wheels, colour-coded bumpers, LED fog lamps, electric mirrors, fabric seats, electric windows, a multi-function steering wheel, two-speaker sound system, automatic door locks, seven airbags, a reverse camera, Vehicle Stability Control, and a limited slip rear differential.

Color options are limited to Glacier White, Attitude Black, Chromium Silver, Ash Grey, Oxide Bronze, and Arizona Red. The pricing for the Hilux single cab includes a three-year/100,000km warranty and a nine-service/90,000km service plan. Specific models have prices listed as follows: Hilux 2.8 GD-6 SRX RB AT at R587,200 and Hilux 2.8 GD-6 SRX 4×4 AT at R663,800.
