Van Dijk urges Liverpool to make amends for ‘unacceptable’ season
The Liverpool captain urged his teammates to erase the bitter taste of last season with a far more successful run this term.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged his team to make amends for their "unacceptable" performances last season. The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League and failed to win any trophies, suffering a disappointing season with 19 losses in all competitions. Van Dijk believes new manager Andoni Iraola can turn the fortunes around.
Iraola, former Bournemouth boss, has been hired to bring back the high-intensity football that was once a trademark of Liverpool. Van Dijk expects his teammates to show determination and commitment to the badge. The team has seen several departures, including Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, and Andrew Robertson, while new signings like Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet have joined.
Van Dijk hopes the squad can avoid the injuries that plagued them last season and compete on all fronts to achieve success.
