Trump announces most crushing economic operation ever against Iran, issues warning to allies

President Donald Trump has announced the launch of the "most intense economic operation" against Iran, following the failure of ongoing negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict between the two nations. In a message on Wednesday, Trump stated that Iran had "failed to seize" the opportunity for negotiations and would now face "economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale."

He warned of sanctions against any nation engaging in trade with Iran, stating, "Any country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences."

The US President emphasized that this unprecedented economic campaign, colloquially known as Operation Economic Fury, aims to isolate Tehran and cut off its revenue sources. The US has already imposed stringent sanctions on Iran's oil, shipping, and financial sectors with the objective of severing the revenue Tehran generates from energy exports. Moreover, the US has established a naval blockade on Iranian ports and targeted entities accused of facilitating Iran's oil sales abroad.

Trump reiterated his call for allies to unite with the United States in this battle, stating, "You know who you are. This will be an Economic D-DAY, and we require all of our Allies to unite with the United States of America to isolate and overcome the Iran threat." This is not the first time Trump has threatened economic sanctions against Iran, as his administration has been conducting a pressure campaign since April under Operation Economic Fury.
