Spouse of King Salman and Makkah deputy emir honor winners of King Abdulaziz Qur’an Competition

MAKKAH — The 46th annual King Abdulaziz International Competition for Qur'an memorization and recitation concluded in the holy city on Wednesday. This prestigious event, under the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, witnessed the recognition of both male and female winners during separate closing ceremonies.

Princess Fahda bint Falah Al-Hathleen, the spouse of King Salman, honored the female winners while Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Emir of Makkah, acknowledged the male winners. Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, delivered a recorded address during the women's closing ceremony. He emphasized that this 46th edition marked a significant milestone, introducing international female participants and a dedicated ceremony for female contestants for the first time.

Sheikh Al-Sheikh praised the competition as a reflection of the Kingdom's dedication to preserving and promoting the Holy Qur'an, highlighting the increase in the number of winners from 12 to 50, and the substantial rise in prize money from SR1.1 million to over SR10 million. These improvements underscore the Kingdom's commitment to honoring Qur'an memorizers at major international events.

As the ceremony concluded, Prince Saud bin Mishaal honored the winners and members of the judging panel.
