Seasonic unveils world's first 80 Plus Ruby ATX power supply — Prime Enterprise RX-1600 delivers 1600W with up to 95.4% efficiency

Seasonic has announced its latest innovation, the Prime Enterprise RX-1600, a 1600-watt ATX power supply that holds the world's first 80 Plus Ruby certification. This cutting-edge product represents a significant leap in power efficiency, outperforming even the Prime TX-1600 in terms of energy consumption. The RX-1600 operates on the ATX 3.1 standard and boasts exceptional efficiency rates that surpass the previously established 80 Plus Ruby benchmark.

The RX-1600 achieves remarkable efficiency at varying loads, with figures of 88.88% at 5%, 93.35% at 10%, 95.38% at 20%, 95.27% at 50%, and 92.81% at 100%. Its outstanding performance also positions it as the most power-efficient PSU within Seasonic's standard ATX lineup. Although primarily intended for demanding desktops, workstations, and AI systems, the RX-1600's versatility makes it suitable for DIY enthusiasts looking to enhance their gaming PCs equipped with standard ATX power supplies.

Although Seasonic has not disclosed specific hardware specifications of the RX-1600, fans of the Prime sub-brand can anticipate high-quality internals. The 80 Plus Ruby certification, introduced last year, is the pinnacle of efficiency within the 80 Plus program, primarily aimed at improving power efficiency in AI datacenters. This certification mandates a minimum of 85% efficiency at 5%, 91% at 10%, 93% at 20%, 95% at 50%, and 91% at 100% load.

While the RX-1600's pricing remains undisclosed, it is projected to be Seasonic's most expensive 1600W power supply to date. The RX-1600 follows in the footsteps of Seasonic's previous Ruby PSU, the SIC-NRX522-22A63GT, a 5200-watt CRPS 54V server PSU unveiled at Computex earlier this year.
