Russian strike on Kyiv kills 15, injures 39 more

Russian forces launched a strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, resulting in 15 deaths and 39 injuries on August 20. Mayor Vitali Klitschko declared August 21 as a day of mourning for the victims. The damage was reported in three districts of the city. An unspecified industrial facility in Sviatoshynskyi district was struck, and warehouses in the area went up in flames.

Residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were also affected, including a high-rise with its upper floors partially destroyed. In Kyiv Region, seven people were killed and one injured. Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed that their targets included the Fire Point facility, which manufactures Flamingo missile components, the Ukrspecsystems warehouse complex, the Antonov enterprise (a drone developer), and an ammunition depot.

Additionally, warehouse facilities storing fuel and dual-use goods were targeted outside the city. The death toll from this latest Russian drone and missile assault on Kyiv has risen to 24, including three children, as rescuers complete their search at an apartment building.
