Rivers inauguration: Infrastructure improves lives, expands opportunities, says Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated a new 33.5-kilometre dual carriageway road in Rivers State, describing it as a critical infrastructure development that would improve lives and economic opportunities for Nigerians. The road, which connects several communities across Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba–Egbema–Ndoni local government areas, was previously plagued by deep gullies, a deteriorated carriageway, difficult journeys, and security concerns.

Shettima stated that roads are the most democratic instruments of development, serving various individuals such as farmers, traders, workers, students, and patients. The new road, illuminated for safer movement day and night, will enable farmers to move produce faster with fewer losses, help traders reach larger markets, and reduce logistics costs for businesses.

The Vice President commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the successful completion of the project, emphasizing that it is a testament to the commitment of subnational governments to expanding the nation's road network. Fubara acknowledged the support of the people in the communities along the route and the assistance of the Federal Government, expressing his happiness at the presence of Shettima at the ceremony.
