Rebecca Beeson's remarkable road back to the AFLW

Rebecca Beeson, a talented GWS midfielder, has made an incredible comeback in the AFLW after enduring a series of setbacks. Beeson was forced to miss the entire 2022 season and embarked on a 12-month rehabilitation journey that tested her more than any football match. During this time, she sought help from concussion specialists and psychologists, enduring headaches, sensitivity to light, and a lack of motivation. Now, she is set to captain her team as she prepares for her 75th AFLW match, a testament to her determination and perseverance. Her return to the league in 2023 saw her honored with a second Gabrielle Trainor medal and appointed as team captain following the departure of longtime skipper Alicia Eva. Giants coach Cam Bernasconi praised Beeson's resilience, noting that she brought back neck strengthening and concussion protocol exercises that have since been adopted by the entire playing group.
