On August 20, 2026, Pune City Police granted conditional permission for Rahul Gandhi's nationwide student outreach initiative, Chhatron Ki Goonj, to be held on August 22 at SSPMS College Ground in Pune. The event, which is focused on addressing issues such as paper leaks, exam irregularities, rising education fees, and aims to provide a platform for young women, is expected to draw between 8,000 and 10,000 attendees.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajlakshmi Shivankar issued 30 mandatory rules to maintain public order and security for the event. These rules include restrictions on displaying provocative images, banners, or portraits, and requiring explicit segregation of seating areas for men and women. Entry points must have enclosed frisking areas for female attendees, staffed exclusively by female security personnel.

Drone cameras, high-intensity beam lights, and the use of certain equipment are banned. Organisers must secure NOCs from Fire and Traffic departments and comply with Supreme Court noise level restrictions. Failure to comply with these rules could result in the immediate revocation of the event permit and potential legal action.
