Pune: 5 Duped Of ₹67 Lakh On Promise Of PMC Jobs; Six, Including Retired Headmaster, Booked

Pune police have registered a case against six individuals, including a retired headmaster, for allegedly defrauding five people of ₹67 lakh by promising them jobs with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The accused, identified as Sanjay Ananta Bhalerao, Shivanand Balasaheb Patil, Amit Darwatkar, Anand Londhanwar, Amit Suhas Deshpande, and an unnamed sixth person, allegedly lured victims with promises of PMC jobs such as attendants, guards, and supervisors.

Between 2024 and June 2026, the accused reportedly collected ₹67 lakh in instalments from the victims in Vadgaon. To convince the victims, the accused provided them with fake documents sealed with PMC seals and purported signatures of officials, including letters for medical examinations. The victims were taken for medical examinations and given fake medical certificates, which strengthened their belief that they had secured PMC jobs.

The victims later discovered that the appointment orders they received were fake and approached the PMC to demand repayment of their money, but the accused allegedly refused. The complainant, a 23-year-old resident of Nandoshi, reported the fraud to the Sinhagad police, leading to the investigation.
