PU guest lecturers' honorarium fixed at ₹14,000: Minister

The Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that the monthly honorarium for guest lecturers in pre-university colleges has been raised from ₹12,000 to ₹14,000. When questioned by Congress member Nayana Motamma, Bangarappa clarified that guest lecturers are not eligible for any additional facilities, as per the existing rules. These lecturers are assigned 10 hours of teaching per week, according to Bangarappa.

In response to another question by Congress member B. Chimmanakatti regarding the provision of pensions and housing facilities to Padma awardees in other states, Backwards Classes and Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi stated that the Karnataka government does not offer such benefits to its Padma awardees. Chimmanakatti expressed a desire for Karnataka to follow suit and extend similar benefits to its awardees.
