Police Arrest Suspects Over Deadly Plateau Community Attack, Mutfwang Vows Justice

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang announced on Thursday that the police have arrested individuals connected to the deadly assault on Bin Mper Community in Kombun District last Tuesday. The attack, which took place on August 18, 2026, resulted in several deaths and injuries. During his visit to the community, the governor expressed his condolences to the affected residents and emphasized that the incident was an attack on the entire community, not just the affected individuals.

Mutfwang vowed that his administration would cooperate with security agencies to ensure those responsible face justice. He also assured the community that the government would bolster security measures to prevent future attacks. The governor stated that this attack occurred shortly after his administration reviewed Plateau's security arrangements with the Nigerian Army's 3 Division and other security entities.

He pledged to protect residents on their ancestral land, emphasizing that nobody would be allowed to force them out or seize their territory. Mutfwang also paid tribute to the Plateau youths for their support in securing their communities and urged them to maintain peace and vigilance. He urged all parties, including communities, traditional institutions, government officials, and security agencies, to work together in combating banditry, terrorism, and other criminal activities by employing proactive, intelligence-driven, and coordinated operations.
