Police arrest four for app-based robbery in Nandyal

On Thursday, four individuals were apprehended in Nandyal for allegedly robbing a victim through an app-based scheme, according to police reports. The incident occurred on August 15 and was initially reported to the authorities two days later. The accused, identified as B. Pavan Kumar, G. Venkata Naga Charan, P. Venkata Umakanth, and B. Hemanth, befriended their victim through an app and lured him to a secluded location.

They invited him to the Golden Function Hall on Kothapalli Road, claiming a function was taking place with friends present. Upon arriving near Nandyal Public School on Nandyal-Kothapalli road, the accused threatened, assaulted, and robbed the victim of ₹7,200 in cash and a mobile phone. The accused then fled the scene. Following the complaint, special teams were formed to search for the suspects, and the four were subsequently arrested near Nandamuri Nagar.

According to the ASP Susmitha, additional victims might have been targeted through the app, but no formal complaints have been filed regarding these incidents. Police recovered various items, including knives, iron rods, mobile phones, cash, and a two-wheeler from the accused.
