PM Shehbaz Convenes Cabinet Meeting on Fuel Margins, Economy, Security

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a federal cabinet meeting today to discuss a proposed Rs. 1.34 per liter increase in fuel dealer margins, alongside the nation's economic status, security concerns, and regional developments. The meeting is set to take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Prime Minister's House, as per sources. The Cabinet Division has informed the relevant members about the scheduled meeting.

The proposed boost in dealer margins for petrol and diesel products stems from a decision made by the Economic Coordination Committee in its meeting held on August 14. This decision will be brought before the federal cabinet for its formal approval. Should the proposal be upheld, the dealer margin for both petrol and diesel could rise by Rs. 1.34 per liter, potentially contributing to the overall cost structure for consumers.

During the meeting, the cabinet will also scrutinize the country's broader economic condition, national security, and domestic law and order. Discussions are anticipated to cover recent geopolitical changes and regional happenings. Moreover, decisions taken by different cabinet committees in their recent meetings will be presented for formal endorsement.
