Pakistan Star Pacer Joins Glamorgan for County Championship 2026

Mir Hamza, a left-arm pacer from Pakistan, has signed on to play for Glamorgan during the final five matches of the County Championship 2026 season, the club announced. Hamza, who is 32 years old, is scheduled to start his second term with the Cardiff-based team on August 27 when Glamorgan faces Hampshire at Sophia Gardens. During his initial time with Glamorgan in the 2024 County Championship, Hamza managed to take two wickets across six matches, averaging 35.5.

The fast bowler has also made appearances for Pakistan in seven Tests, with his most recent game against South Africa occurring in December the previous year. Mark Wallace, Glamorgan's Director of Cricket, expressed his delight at securing Hamza's return, stating the club was fortunate to obtain a player of his caliber during a period when overseas players are scarce due to limited availability caused by international commitments and the resumption of domestic seasons in the Southern Hemisphere.

Currently, Glamorgan occupies the fourth position in the County Championship Division One standings, just nine points behind leaders and defending champions Nottinghamshire, with six matches left in their campaign. Prior to Hamza's arrival, Glamorgan will take on Leicestershire at Grace Road from August 20 to 23 in their upcoming County Championship fixture.
