Osun Election: Your federal might failed – Rufai slams Wike, APC

Arise Television anchor, Oseni Rufai, criticized Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the recent Osun State governorship election. Rufai urged Wike to cease "gaslighting" Nigerians concerning the election results. He dismissed claims that the Federal Government did not leverage its influence and resources in the election, stating that significant efforts were invested to secure a victory for the APC, which ultimately did not materialize.

INEC declared incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke the winner, receiving 511,067 votes compared to the APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. Adeleke won 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured 11. Advising the APC, Wike claimed the party would have triumphed in the election if Tinubu had chosen to employ the full strength of federal power.

Rufai rejected this assertion, dismissing it as denial and "gaslighting" of Nigerians. He contended that federal-aligned interests made substantial efforts to influence the election's outcome but still failed to secure an APC victory, as voters resisted the pressure.
