OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna models now available on Amazon Bedrock in India

Amazon has announced the availability of OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna models on Amazon Bedrock in India, with in-country inferencing. This marks the first time Indian organizations can access these advanced AI models locally, using AWS infrastructure. Satinder Pal Singh, Director of Solution Architecture at AWS India, stated that this move empowers customers across various industries to build transformative AI applications with local inferencing and governance controls.

GPT-5.6 Terra is a general-purpose model offering superior performance at a lower cost, while GPT-5.6 Luna is faster and more cost-efficient, ideal for high-volume, latency-sensitive tasks. Both models have recently seen price reductions, making frontier intelligence more accessible to Indian businesses. OpenAI's Head of Enterprise Sales, India, Nitin Bawankule, noted that local inferencing is crucial for regulated sectors and enables businesses to apply AI in production at scale for various applications, such as agentic coding, data analysis, and software development.
