Officials review logistics, security for BRICS delegates’

The BRICS sports ministers are set to convene meetings in Visakhapatnam on August 22 and 23, with Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore overseeing logistical and security arrangements. Kishore convened officials to discuss transport, accommodation, protocol, security, and other essential preparations for the visiting ministers and senior officials from BRICS nations.

At the airport and hotels, reception desks will be established, and duty passes for officials and staff will be issued in advance. The meetings and bilateral engagements will take place at the Radisson Blu and Novotel hotels. On August 22, a tree-planting program at Thotlakonda is scheduled to commence at 8 a.m., with forest officials tasked to identify and maintain suitable local plant species.

Following bilateral meetings and engagements related to youth affairs at the Radisson Blu, a gala dinner featuring approximately 150 attendees is planned for the evening of August 22 at the Novotel. On August 23, a friendly cycling event involving BRICS sports ministers and the Union Sports Minister is planned along Beach Road, with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and the Sports Department providing 40 and 25 bicycles, respectively.

Motorists, walkers, and those exercising in the area will be informed and signboards will be erected to facilitate the event. Additionally, a dinner for foreign delegates is scheduled at Rushikonda Beach on August 23, with welcome boards and cultural programs showcasing local traditions, including a Dhimsa tribal dance performance.

Officials have been directed to prioritize sanitation and beautification at the venues, with all departments working in coordination to ensure the meetings proceed smoothly.
