'NAINA To Emerge As Planned City Like Navi Mumbai, Driven By NMIA And Town Planning Schemes': CIDCO Chief Ashwin Mudgal | VIDEO

Navi Mumbai's upcoming NAINA is poised to become an impressively planned city, mirroring Navi Mumbai's success, according to CIDCO Chief Ashwin Mudgal. The growth of NAINA, a town planning scheme, is driven by the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), with a systematic Town Planning Scheme (TPS) at its core. Mudgal emphasized that developing a city in the shadow of an international airport necessitates a well-planned approach.

The NAINA area was designated around NMIA in 2013, encompassing 95 villages. Currently, 12 TPS projects are active or in progress, with others, including TPS 13 and 14, in planning stages. However, CIDCO is encountering ground-level difficulties in implementing these schemes, particularly in plot demarcation and managing existing structures.

Mudgal stressed that precise ground verification is crucial to prevent overlapping of final plots with existing properties, which could lead to legal disputes. The demarcation process has already commenced in conflict zones, and CIDCO is engaging with affected landowners to resolve these issues. NAINA differs from the KSC New Town, or Third Mumbai, which is located northeast and east of NMIA and covers 124 villages.

NAINA's growth will be closely linked to NMIA's development, with major projects like AeroCity, EduCity, MediCity, and commercial establishments expected to emerge. Improved connectivity through the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link will accelerate development in NAINA, KSC New Town, and surrounding areas. Mudgal stressed the importance of coordinated planning and adequate infrastructure to support this rapid expansion and prevent problems associated with unplanned urban development.
