In the wake of faltering negotiations with Iran, US President Donald Trump has threatened Tehran with an unprecedented "economic war." On his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that any country supporting Iran, including its financial institutions, businesses, airports, and governmental authorities, would face "SIGNIFICANT economic consequences."

He emphasized the need for the assistance of all US allies to halt Iran's perceived threat. With just two and a half months remaining before crucial US midterm elections, Trump is under significant domestic pressure, failing to achieve notable successes in his ongoing war against Iran. Neither diplomatic nor military efforts seem to be yielding favorable results.

Iran has remained undeterred by Trump's consistent threats, as evidenced by its continued navigation of trade vessels through the Hormuz Strait, which had previously operated without hindrance prior to the war's commencement. Trump has resorted to issuing dire warnings to Iran's leadership, employing particularly harsh language.

He spoke of "historic measures" and "the most devastating economic operation ever directed against a nation," likening his plan to a "economic D-Day" for Iran.
