Musiala reveals neurological issue after 2nd collapse during a game

Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala has revealed he is being treated for a "neurological dysfunction" after collapsing during a game for the second time in a four-day span. On Tuesday, the 23-year-old midfielder fell while coming on as a substitute during Bayern's 4-2 friendly match against Heidenheim. The incident occurred six minutes after he returned to the pitch.

Earlier on Saturday, Musiala had collapsed during Bayern's 3-1 friendly win over RB Leipzig. He later posted an Instagram update, informing followers of his diagnosis of "temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures" caused by a neurological dysfunction. These seizures are believed to be responsible for the recent collapses, including the one against Leipzig and the one that happened in Heidenheim.

Musiala emphasized that while the episodes are frightening, they are a part of his daily life and that he is receiving excellent medical care. Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed the player would address the matter during a later statement. Musiala had missed the first six months of last season due to a broken ankle sustained at the 2025 Club World Cup, but returned in time for the second half of the 2025 season and played in three of Germany's four matches at the 2026 World Cup.
