Mumbai: Ex-Mayor Kishori Pednekar Visits Sion Hospital, Flags Severe Cleanliness, Hygiene Issues During Her Surprise Inspection - VIDEO

Former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar paid a surprise visit to Sion Municipal Hospital on Thursday for an inspection. During her trip, Pednekar pointed out a number of issues, chiefly those related to cleanliness and hygiene.

She recounted complaints from the hospital's Health Committee, who had contacted her, stating that garbage around the hospital had not been collected for three to four days. Pednekar alleged that the hospital had transformed into a massive garbage dump, describing it as an "entire empire of garbage."

Pednekar also expressed her concerns about the lack of proper hygiene at the hospital. She remarked that a sanitary pad vending machine installed at the hospital was not working as expected. The machine, she stated, can accept a Rs 10 coin but does not dispense sanitary pads.

Moreover, Pednekar raised concerns over the hospital premises becoming mosquito breeding grounds, which could spread diseases like dengue and malaria. "We are saying this repeatedly for the citizens of Mumbai," she said.

Pednekar concluded by alleging that the hospital's lack of safety and hygiene was a result of authorities not attending to the alleged negligence.
