Mumbai Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests BMC Engineer For Alleged ₹20,000 Bribe At A-Ward Office

Mumbai's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a sub-engineer from the A-Ward of the municipal corporation, R.V. Jaiswal, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 in order to facilitate a cloud kitchen business. The engineer was posted at the solid waste management department of A-Ward. The complainant, a woman, initially applied to the BMC's A-Ward office for permission to repair the sewer line and chambers of her house for the cloud kitchen business.

However, when the engineer demanded a bribe of ₹1.25 lakh, she refused and lodged a complaint with the ACB on June 15. When the ACB set a trap on August 17, Jaiswal was caught accepting the bribe of ₹20,000 at the A-Ward office. During the personal search of Jaiswal, a mobile phone and cash worth Rs 7.03 lakh were found. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
