Max Verstappen signs new contract with Red Bull

Max Verstappen has signed a new contract with Red Bull, dispelling months of speculation surrounding the Dutch Formula One driver's future. The four-time world champion has been linked with moves to McLaren and Mercedes, but his decision to renew his deal with Red Bull extends his tenure until the end of 2030.

Verstappen, 28, had been set to leave Red Bull at the end of 2028 unless he opted out. His new contract allows him to continue with the team until the close of the 2030 season. Red Bull expressed their excitement about Verstappen's continued commitment, stating, "We have the best people and I'm excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again."

The Belgian driver emphasized the importance of the team, calling it "like a second family" and expressing his pride in the achievements they've shared. Verstappen stated, "To continue this journey with the same team that I have been with my whole career is really special and something I have always wanted to do."

Notably, Verstappen's new deal ensures he remains in the sport for the first campaign of the upcoming regulatory changes. He had previously criticized the new power unit regulations throughout the current season.
