Mattel has officially unveiled a buildable replica of the original Xbox, marking the company's latest addition to its premium brick-building sets. This new set, part of the Mattel Brick Shop brand, aims to celebrate the Xbox's 25th anniversary. The 1:1-scale model features 3,509 pieces and includes the iconic "Duke" controller from the original console.
In addition to its buildable aspect, the set offers interactive features such as three miniature dioramas representing games Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Psychonauts. Each diorama is accompanied by its respective figurines, totaling 12 miniatures. These dioramas are incorporated into the Xbox model but can be removed for separate display.
Pressing a button on the "Duke" controller triggers a lighting effect on one of the modules, accompanied by the soundtrack of the corresponding game. There's also a secret button combination that activates an exclusive lighting sequence. Pre-orders for the buildable Xbox are now available through Amazon, Best Buy, and Mattel Creations, with a suggested retail price of $329.99 (~RM1,333).
While Mattel has not confirmed its availability in Malaysia, it has previously sold similar sets at local retailers, increasing the likelihood of this Xbox model becoming accessible.
