Mary J. Blige Opens Up About Choosing Not to Have Any Children: ‘I Saw a Lot of People Struggling’

R&B icon Mary J. Blige recently opened up about her decision not to have biological children in an interview on the IMO podcast with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson. The 55-year-old singer reflected on the struggles she's witnessed in the families of friends, noting that she chose not to have children because she didn't want to be a part of that struggle.

While Blige expressed some regret about being childless as she's gotten older, she emphasized that she's happy with the life she's built for herself. She enjoys spending time alone at home, watching movies, and trying on clothes. Blige is currently preparing for her My Life, My Story residency in Las Vegas, which resumes on October 23.
