Mangu killings affect me directly – Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State expressed deep distress over last Tuesday's violent attack on the Bin Mper Community in Kombun District, Mangu Local Government Area. With a heavy heart as someone from Mangu, Mutfwang denounced the barbaric and senseless murders of 25 innocent individuals and the subsequent injuries as utterly unacceptable.

During a poignant visit on Thursday to offer condolences, Mutfwang emphasized that the loss of life would not deter the government's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He pledged to intensify security measures, implementing new strategies and reinforcing existing ones, in response to the attack. The governor highlighted that this heinous act was not just an assault on the community, but a personal affront, and he fervently prayed for the community's peace and comfort.

He proudly mentioned arrests made by the police, vowing to pursue the case to its conclusion. Mutfwang commended the Plateau youths for their steadfast support in protecting their communities and urged them to remain peaceful, vigilant, and law-abiding while cooperating closely with authorities. He underscored the importance of unity and collaboration among communities, traditional institutions, government, and security agencies in the fight against insecurity.

Mutfwang expressed confidence that through collective resolve and sustained security operations, Plateau would triumph over banditry, terrorism, and other criminal elements threatening the state's peace. Prior to his visit, Mutfwang received a security briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, where he called for proactive, intelligence-driven, and coordinated measures to protect vulnerable communities and forestall attacks before they occur.
