Living Christ Mission General Overseer ‘Daddy Hezekiah’ accused of sexual abuse

Obiajunwa Onukogu, widely known as Daddy Hezekiah, founder and General Overseer of the Living Christ Mission, faces allegations of sexually abusing two women when they were minors attending church programs over two decades ago. Kelechi Ibe, 39, and Onyekachi J. Eze, 40, recently disclosed these claims in separate written accounts.

Both women revealed that the incidents took place in the 1990s at church events in Port Harcourt, Onitsha, and Nkwerre, Imo State, under the guise of a church group for young girls called "Princess of Daddy Hezekiah."

According to the testimonies, parents frequently departed after the initial days of these gatherings, entrusting their children to the care of church officials until the events concluded. The women alleged that they were frequently summoned to the cleric's private quarters under false pretenses, where they faced repeated instances of inappropriate sexual touching.

They also claimed that they were instructed to remain silent about these events, including to their parents and fellow group members, which left them too terrified to speak out for years.

Kelechi Ibe recounted that the alleged abuse commenced when she was approximately 12 or 13 years old during church conventions. She eventually broke her silence after discussing her experience with her sister, a former member of the group. Onyekachi J. Eze, on the other hand, alleged that the abuse began during a church visit to Onitsha and continued after joining the same group in Port Harcourt.

The women discovered commonalities in their experiences and believe that other former members of the group may have encountered similar situations. They have identified several individuals, including Nkechi Nwofor, Angela Michael, Sopuruchukwu, Nkiru Arum, Vivian Nmezi, and Ihegboro Chibuzo, who have come forward with similar allegations. The women emphasized that these experiences had lasting emotional repercussions and hoped their testimonies would inspire other survivors to share their stories.

As of this report, neither Onukogu nor the Living Christ Mission had officially addressed the accusations.
