InfoQ Opens Enrollment for New AI-Assisted Engineering Online Certification Program

InfoQ has begun accepting applications for a fresh online certification program titled AI-Assisted Engineering. This initiative, spearheaded by seasoned practitioners Zichuan Xiong and Premanand Chandrasekaran, is designed for senior engineers and architects who already rely on coding agents to manage production code on a daily basis.

The inaugural session of the program is scheduled from September 18 to October 16, 2026, with weekly Friday sessions starting at 9:00 AM PDT. An alternative cohort commences from October 19 to November 16, with Monday meetings beginning at the same time. The certification fee is set at $1,470 per participant.

The curriculum delves into understanding the capabilities of AI agents, identifying their potential errors, and providing evidence to prove the validity, scalability, and maintainability of the generated code. It is led by Xiong, Head of AIOps at Thoughtworks, and Chandrasekaran, Head of Technology at Thoughtworks.

During the five-week program, participants are expected to construct a harness around an existing codebase, applying the weekly framework under the guidance of senior engineers from various industries. The sessions are interactive, with no recordings, allowing attendees to discuss their unique challenges and solutions.

To earn the certification, participants must maintain attendance and submit a capstone project comprising the harnessed repository, a codified rule or agent skill derived from their personal review findings, and a comparative analysis of the observed outcomes against their initial predictions.
