HEC Dismisses Assistant Professor After 30 Years Over Fake Credentials

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has terminated the employment of an assistant professor at Government Science College after a 30-year career, due to academic misconduct. The inquiry revealed that Mujahid Umar had enlisted the assistance of another individual to take his intermediate and graduation exams on his behalf. Furthermore, it was discovered that Umar had obtained a prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal and a National Talent Scholarship through the use of forged academic documents.

Umar began his tenure with the Education Department in 1996, after submitting false educational credentials. He remained in his position for three decades before being promoted to the role of assistant professor. Following the HEC's conclusive findings of irregularities, the agency invalidated his degrees and issued a decree terminating his employment.

The commission also announced plans to reclaim the wages and benefits accrued throughout his 30-year tenure of service.
